Sales Tax Compliance Specialist

About the role

Own the complete lifecycle of short-term rental tax accounts, from registering new properties to filing returns and keeping state, county and town accounts current across many jurisdictions.

What you will do

• Set up and maintain sales tax registrations, permits and accounts in every applicable jurisdiction
• Liaise with county and state revenue offices to keep registrations valid and answer notices and information requests
• Track rate changes and new filing obligations, updating internal records to match
• Prepare and submit sales tax and lodging or occupancy returns on monthly, quarterly and annual cycles
• Reconcile collections made by booking platforms against what is reported, filed and remitted

What they look for

• Strong organisation of filings, registrations, documentation and deadlines
• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies between collected, reported and remitted tax
• Familiarity with nexus rules and taxable transactions when reviewing obligations
• Clear communication with revenue offices, homeowners and internal accounting colleagues
