Senior Founding Product Engineer

About the role

A single engineer will own the whole product engineering function for an AI anxiety coaching app, reporting to a non-technical founder and setting technical direction within the product brief.

What you will do

• Own the AI coaching assistant, covering prompts, conversation flow, retrieval, model choice and evaluation, plus safety and crisis handling
• Deliver the mobile and web apps in React Native and React, including store and Stripe subscriptions
• Handle release engineering such as CI/CD, environments, signing, monitoring, backups and rollback
• Translate technical choices into plain language for the founder and the clinical team

What they look for

• Works AI-first, using agentic coding tools as the default workflow rather than writing everything by hand
• Builds automated evaluation harnesses so the coach is tested against scenario suites on every change
• Self-starter who takes a brief, plans, communicates, executes and reports with little technical supervision
• Comfortable being the only engineer at first and learning the system from the code
• Ships quickly and safely, favouring small frequent releases
