Software Engineer, Desktop Integrations

About the role

An early-career engineering role on a distributed team that handles browser installs, updates and operating system integration. The work helps keep the browser working smoothly across desktop platforms.

What you will do

• Help build and maintain features for installs, updates and OS integration
• Improve the installation and update process with support from senior engineers
• Tackle platform-specific problems on Windows or macOS where the browser meets the OS
• Define and scope tasks with your manager and teammates, sharing progress regularly
• Take part in code reviews to learn and keep the codebase strong
• Help find and fix bugs that affect users worldwide

What they look for

• Some systems-level programming experience on a major platform such as Windows or macOS
• Proficiency in C and C++
• Ability to contribute to shared projects and keep building technical and problem-solving skills
• A growth mindset and enthusiasm for impactful software

Nice to have

• Exposure to Rust
• Familiarity with Linux or macOS internals
• Prior open source participation or a strong interest in learning to contribute
