Staff Software Engineer, Distributed Data Services

About the role

Maintain and build high-performance backend services that keep a messaging platform reliable and scalable for large customers. The work focuses on infrastructure rather than user-facing features.

What you will do

• Build and operate performant services including edge caches, enterprise key management, data residency and image proxying
• Keep systems highly available, reliable and scalable so users never notice them
• Support compliance needs of globally distributed customers with minimal latency
• Weigh engineering against product trade-offs and argue persuasively for a position
• Untangle complex issues requiring deep knowledge of existing architecture

What they look for

• US citizenship or permanent residency, as visa sponsorship is unavailable
• Hands-on management of critical production infrastructure with a customer-first view of operational safety
• Deep experience with reliable, safe distributed systems
• Curious, determined mindset that is energized by things breaking

Nice to have

• Go programming language exposure
• Building and releasing software with Docker containers
• Experience in highly regulated environments using FEDRAMP or NIST frameworks
