Associate Underwriting Team Leader

About the role

A role that combines hands-on underwriting of new and renewal business with coordinating and developing a team of underwriters, keeping work aligned with standards and authority limits.

What you will do

• Assess risk on new and renewal business, set terms and conditions, and decide within delegated authority
• Run the underwriting workflow end to end, covering submissions, binding, servicing and documentation
• Track production measures such as retention and spread of risk to keep portfolio quality predictable
• Work with producers, agents and internal teams so decisions are communicated and executed on time
• Guide and mentor less experienced underwriters through technical advice and knowledge sharing

What they look for

• Underwriting experience, including multi-line or specialty insurance products
• A track record of handling complex accounts and improving underwriting results
• Strong risk assessment and underwriting analysis skills
• Familiarity with underwriting guidelines, rating methods and regulatory requirements
• Ability to read policies, contracts and coverage structures
• A current state insurance license

Nice to have

• A bachelor's degree or a relevant insurance designation
• Prior experience mentoring or guiding colleagues
• Professional designations such as CPCU or CIC
