Support and improve enterprise database platforms, mainly Oracle, keeping services secure, resilient and fast. The role sits in a specialist database team that handles incidents, backups and infrastructure change.
What you will do
- Maintain enterprise database platforms, with Oracle as the main focus and MariaDB, SQL Server and Sybase ASE also supported
- Watch performance, availability and capacity so services keep meeting business needs
- Handle incidents, service requests and technical problems within agreed operational processes
- Carry out routine administration such as patching, maintenance and housekeeping
- Support backup, recovery and disaster recovery across the database estate
- Raise and implement changes, and help with automation, upgrades and cloud adoption
What they look for
- Hands on administration of Oracle databases in a production setting
- Track record supporting systems and services that are business critical
- Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills with practical solution finding
- Experience with Oracle backup, recovery and restore work using RMAN
- Willingness to take part in an on-call support rota
