Machine Learning Research and Engineering Specialist

About the role

Fully remote with no location limit, roughly 15 hours per week, and a first task expected within a day or two. The work is judged on reproducible code, correct results and clear write-ups.

What you will do

• Build and check models, training pipelines and inference systems, plus the code around them.
• Write or change model parts, data pipelines, evaluation code and numerical methods in Python.
• Track down numerical, algorithmic and system failures, then fix them properly.
• Tune training and inference for memory, speed and throughput, and test that results are correct.
• Use coding agents in the workflow for implementation, debugging, testing and review, checking what they produce.
• Write down approaches, decisions, test results and performance findings.

What they look for

• A master's or PhD in computer science, machine learning, AI, applied maths, statistics, engineering or a similar quantitative field.
• Real experience in machine learning research or practice, with strong Python for writing, debugging, testing and speeding up hard code.
• Hands-on use of coding agents inside a Python workflow.
• Knowledge of how models are trained and run, and how they are evaluated.
• Solid quantitative reasoning for diagnosing numerical and computational problems.
• Ability to work alone, manage tasks and meet quality and deadline requirements.
