Research Scientist, Computer Science and Computational Physics

About the role

A flexible contractor role, part time or full time and remote, for researchers who will pose open problems in their subfield and investigate them rigorously with frontier AI models and agents, then verify and document the results.

What you will do

• Propose open problems, new bounds or tractable challenges in your subfield
• Run structured research with frontier AI models and agents to attempt proofs, algorithms or simulations
• Verify outputs by checking proofs, reproducing numbers or using formal tools
• Judge novelty and correctness against recent literature and published results
• Write clear reports on methods, partial results and difficulties encountered
• Flag promising directions for senior researchers to explore further

What they look for

• Late stage PhD candidate, postdoc or early career academic with zero to five years past the PhD in computer science or mathematical or compu
• Strong publication record in the past three years, with multiple top venue papers and work on named open problems or new concepts
• Hands on computational methods expertise covering simulation, numerical analysis and algorithm implementation
• Background using frontier models, agents or formal tools such as Lean or SAT and SMT solvers in research

Nice to have

• Experience reviewing or sub-reviewing for major conferences in your specialty
• A publicly shared research statement or homepage listing open problems you are investigating
