Senior ERISA Attorney, Retirement Plan Corrections

About the role

A remote senior attorney role leading retirement plan correction work and advising clients on benefits compliance. The position involves resolving complex plan failures and guiding clients through regulatory examinations.

What you will do

• Lead correction projects for retirement plans from spotting the issue to final resolution
• Counsel clients on ERISA, tax code rules, qualified plans and regulatory compliance
• Diagnose operational failures in 401(k) plans, contributions, eligibility, distributions and testing
• Build correction approaches under IRS EPCRS, including self correction and voluntary correction programs
• Draft legal analyses, correction calculations, plan amendments and client recommendations
• Support clients during IRS and Department of Labor reviews and remediation, and mentor junior attorneys

What they look for

• Active bar license in any US state
• At least three years practicing ERISA or employee benefits law
• Three or more years handling retirement plan corrections and compliance remediation
• Hands on work with IRS EPCRS, including SCP and VCP procedures
• Solid grasp of qualified retirement plans, especially 401(k) and other tax qualified arrangements
• Proven ability to analyze complex plan failures and design correction strategies independently

Pay

USD 170,000 to 210,000 per year
