Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer Data Platform)

About the role

Build backend services that support customer acquisition, engagement and personalization for a payments product, working with product, data and design partners. The role combines hands-on engineering with cross-team planning and mentoring.

What you will do

• Plan and prioritize projects using product, technical and business data to guide decisions
• Create scalable APIs, data models and backend services for messaging, personalization and experimentation
• Work with product managers, data scientists and analysts on acquisition and engagement strategies
• Set engineering standards so services stay secure, observable and fast at scale
• Guide junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and technical quality
• Support your team's systems through metrics, escalation and on-call duties

What they look for

• Six or more years as a software engineer focused on backend systems
• Solid grasp of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture and their tradeoffs
• Record of shipping complex backend systems to production
• Strong written and verbal communication, including design docs and technical specs
• Ability to collaborate across product, data science, analytics and design
• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin or similar languages, plus experience with AWS or another major cloud

Nice to have

• Experience with experimentation platforms such as A/B testing or feature flagging
• Experience with both Python and Kotlin
