Staff Machine Learning / Operations Research Engineer

About the role

A hands-on senior engineering role setting technical direction for machine learning and optimisation behind a dispatch platform, shaping how deliveries are priced, selected, forecast and routed.

What you will do

• Own the ML and optimisation roadmap, deciding which problems use models, solvers or heuristics
• Lead ambiguous, high-stakes modelling problems from framing through to production
• Set standards for experimentation and production ML and mentor engineers through reviews
• Partner with product and leadership to shape strategy and spot competitive advantage
• Build models for quote selection, dynamic pricing, reliability scoring and demand forecasting

What they look for

• Experience building and shipping machine learning and optimisation systems in production
• Ability to set technical direction and make architectural decisions for a platform
• Strong grounding in forecasting, pricing or routing models
• Experience with optimisation tools such as OR-Tools or Gurobi
• Skill at translating operational constraints into model requirements and scoring logic
• Comfort mentoring engineers and leading design and code reviews
