Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney

About the role

A remote attorney role handling defense of workers' compensation claims for employers and insurers, from assignment to resolution, with regular court appearances.

What you will do

• Own a defense caseload of workers' compensation matters from start to finish
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations and other court proceedings
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses and case evaluations
• Review medical records and claim histories to shape defense strategy
• Advise clients on case progress, exposure and next steps
• Negotiate settlements and seek efficient resolutions

What they look for

• Active Maryland bar license
• At least one year of workers' compensation law experience
• Strong legal writing, analysis, negotiation and client communication skills
• Ability to handle deadlines and a caseload independently while remote
• Reliable transportation for in-person proceedings

Nice to have

• Workers' compensation defense background
• Litigation experience with hearings, depositions or motions
• Virginia or Washington, DC bar admission, or willingness to waive in
