Bilingual Crisis Helpline Responder

About the role

You would answer crisis calls and give immediate, compassionate help to people in distress, connecting them with safety and resources. The role is remote and part time with flexible shifts.

What you will do

• Answer crisis hotline calls with empathy and professionalism
• Provide evidence based counselling and de-escalation support
• Carry out risk assessments and arrange emergency services or referrals
• Keep accurate, confidential call records
• Create tailored crisis management and safety plans
• Ensure smooth handovers between shifts

What they look for

• One to three years of helpline experience, paid or volunteer
• Proven ability to handle high risk situations
• Emotional resilience and calm decision making under pressure
• Fluency in French and English

Nice to have

• Additional languages
• Background in mental health or emergency services
• Crisis intervention or suicide prevention training
