Claims Manager, Commercial Auto Liability

About the role

A hands on manager runs the daily claims operation for commercial auto liability, developing in house adjusters and supervising a third party administrator. Complex claims are negotiated directly so they resolve early and fairly without unnecessary litigation.

What you will do

• Direct the third party administrator, reviewing reserves and files and flagging claims needing in house handling
• Develop adjusters' investigation, communication and negotiation abilities across injury, property and recovery claims
• Handle difficult high exposure bodily injury claims personally with claimants and their counsel
• Supervise investigations, evidence preservation and witness interviews, setting accurate reserves early
• Strengthen claims procedures for first contact, investigation, reserving, settlement authority and litigation avoidance
• Oversee outside counsel, independent adjusters and experts, including budgets and billing, and represent the company at mediations and trial

What they look for

• At least seven years of commercial auto liability claims experience including severe and fatal bodily injury losses
• Background in trucking or transportation with grasp of fleet operations and FMCSA regulations
• Demonstrated success resolving bodily injury claims pre suit through negotiation
• Litigation management experience with counsel strategy, budgets and settlement
• Understanding of state claims regulations and multi state compliance, with an active adjuster license or one obtained within 60 days
