Director of Public Relations

About the role

A new senior role leading editorial work and earned media for a large pediatric health organization. The director shapes national messaging, manages an outside PR firm and builds visibility for the mission.

What you will do

• Act as main editor across social, print, web, email, fundraising, policy and executive content
• Craft brand messaging, talking points and thought leadership on health and policy topics
• Coach writers, keep a stylebook and template library, and improve editorial workflows
• Direct the outside PR firm and set priorities for an earned media strategy
• Generate press releases, op-eds and pitches, and prepare spokespeople for interviews
• Guide rapid response messaging in high-stakes situations and track media results

• Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of voice and tone
• Seasoned media strategy experience, including managing agency relationships
• Ability to turn complex health and policy subjects into clear messaging
• Collaborative style working with leaders, clinicians and affiliate partners
• Experience advising on communications during crises or sensitive moments
