Join as the second technical hire to build a new consumer health platform's backend from scratch, covering APIs, genomic data pipelines, databases and cloud infrastructure. The contract role may become full-time once the company is established.
What you will do
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs with Node.js, TypeScript and Fastify
- Build secure services that handle large data requests reliably
- Develop repeatable, recoverable pipelines for messy genomic inputs
- Apply access controls, encryption and healthcare compliance to the architecture
What they look for
- Five or more years in backend engineering, including early-stage systems built from scratch
- Hands-on Node.js and TypeScript experience delivering production REST APIs
- Track record building pipelines for large, inconsistent data with failure recovery
- AWS deployment and infrastructure experience
- Authentication and authorization work with Cognito, Auth0 or OAuth
Nice to have
- Bioinformatics or genomic data processing background
- AWS CDK or CloudFormation experience
- Familiarity with Fastify
- Healthcare or regulated industry experience
